Aberdaron holidays can offer lots of different things to do for all the family. Spend the day at the seaside, set off for a hike, meander around the quaint shops or visit the church of St Hywyn where the celebrated poet RS Thomas was the vicar form 1967 to 1978.

Situated at the western tip of the Llyn Peninsula in the Welsh county of Gwynedd, Aberdaron and the surrounding areas have been inhabited for thousands of years and evidence can be seen in the remains of Stone Age sites, Iron Age hill forts, and burial stones. There are great walks to unearth Aberdaron’s history and learn all about the villages varied past. The 7.5 mile St Mary’s Well walk is popular with more experienced ramblers and begins in the centre of Aberdaron. Steep slopes and cliff edges are involved so make sure to pack a sturdy pair of boots.

If you fancy a day by the sea, there are lots of wonderful beaches to choose from. Porth Oer and Porth Lago are beautiful sheltered coves great for bathing and water sport enthusiasts. Larger beaches include Pwllheli, Abersoch, or Hell’s Mouth. Wildlife watching is a great pastime to be enjoyed in Aberdaron. Puffins, kestrels, kittiwakes can all be seen along the Llyn Peninsula and dolphins, seals and porpoises can often be see frolicking in the shores off of the coast. A popular spot with tourists is Bardsey Island. According to tradition, this island is the burial site of 20,000 saints and the last resting place of King Arthur and Merlin. Today it is an important conversation site and at only a mile and half in length can easily be explored on one of the daily boat trips from Aberdaron.

A day spent strolling around the village will offer cosy pubs and eateries to stop for a bite to eat and a few gift shops perfect for picking up a few souvenirs. During the summer months there are many Regattas celebrating the maritime influence in the village and Aberdaron is an ideal base for getting out and discovering all that North Wales has to offer.
