Anglesey, the island just off the North West Coast of Wales is a popular holiday destination which attracts plenty of visitors each year. There are beautiful beaches, rugged landscapes, great shopping options, fun attractions and the island also has easy access to the rest of North Wales if you wish to explore further on a day trip. If you are thinking of heading to the area on your next visit to Wales, then we’ve rounded up a few of our favourite things to do in Anglesey to help you begin planning your break.
Anglesey Sea Zoo
Anglesey Sea Zoo is great for getting close to marine life and is an attraction the kids will love to visit. There are play areas too from the massive Octojump bouncy castle, Captain Jake’s Crazy Golf and more as well as a lovely café and souvenir shop. The great thing about your visit too is that your ticket covers you for a week so if you didn’t manage to see everything or the kids want to go again then you can pop back as many times during the seven days.
Beaumaris Castle
This castle was built by the English monarchy, Edward I but was unfortunately never finished due to money and supplies running out. However, you can visit this World Heritage fortress and admire the medieval construction and learn all about the history of Beaumaris Castle. Explore the grounds and view the gorgeous scenery towards Snowdonia and over the Menai Straits. Keep an eye out for special events taking place at the Castle too!
Dingle Nature Reserve
This 25 acre wooded valley is rich in history and has fantastic wildlife. The Dingle Nature Reserve is perfect for a day of exploring and soaking up beautiful scenery and the Dingle itself is a steep gorge with ancient woodland surrounding it. Great for dog walking, gentle strolls or relaxed bike rides, there are also great accessible routes and spots to stop for picnics along the way.
Beautiful beaches
If you love a trip to the seaside or a brisk coastal walk, then Anglesey has plenty of beaches to choose from. Boasting spectacular views, rocks pools to explore and dog-friendly havens, you’ll be sure to find the beach to suit your brood perfectly. There are award-winning sandy stretches along the Anglesey coast and make sure to keep your eyes peeled for seal and dolphins in the water.
Foel Farm Park
A great day out for all the family, Foel Farm Park lets you experience the sights, sounds and smells of a real working farm. Meet the animals, enjoy tractor, quad, trailer and pony rides plus lots more. There’s even a Chocolate workshop on the farm where you can watch chocolates being made, plus a great bistro cafe and gift shop.
There of plenty of great attractions offering lots of fun things to do in Anglesey that the whole family will enjoy. A visit to the area is complete with a stay at one of our fantastic cottages in the area too.
