Llandrindod Wells was developed as a spa town in the 19th century and is Wales’s most central town. The ‘healing qualities’ of the local spring waters attracted visitors to the area and the town has remained a popular tourist destination in Wales right up to today. This busy market town is known to locals as ‘Landod’ and the administrative centre of Powys. A great base for exploring the gems of Mid Wales, boasting rich heritage and local festivals to amuse, Landrindod Wells holidays can offer a unique and interesting stay.

With a host of historical buildings, beautiful landmarks and attractions to cater for visitors, there is lots to explore and enjoy from the towns popular central location. The towns Heritage Trail provides a historical trip back in time around the town where you can admire attractive architecture of the towns rich Victorian past, charm and learn more about the healing spring waters. If you want to feel the benefits yourself of the famous waters, Rock Park Spa has fantastic relaxation spots and mineral springs, great for a calming afternoon. Abbey Cwm Hir is a great attraction close to Llandrindod Wells. A listed Victorian Gothic house with gorgeous grounds and gardens to explore, you can even book a guided tour to get clued up on the great history of this house.

Festivals and events around the town include the Drama Festival Week at the beginning of May, and the Victorian Festival at the end of August. A short drive away and held in July is The Royal Welsh Show, the largest agricultural show in the UK which is great for getting a taste of true Welsh rural life. Llandrindod Wells hosts the Heart of Wales Walking Festival each year in September which includes an array of walks to suit all ages and abilities. There are lots of walking routes for relaxing strolls or more experienced hikes all around Llandrindo Wells with stunning scenery to savour and hidden gems to unearth.

A great central location to get out and explore Mid Wales, take a trip on the historic train line through the rolling hills. The Heart of Wales line is a favourite rural railway with spectacular scenery and the chance to stop off at bustling market towns. The line travels south from Shrewsbury and stops off a Knighton, Llandrindod Wells, Llanelli and then finally Swansea. There are tourist attractions to visit along the way such as Spaceguard Centre near Knighton and National Botanic Garden of Wales, a few miles away from the Ffairfach station.
