The Mumbles is also known as ‘the gateway to the Gower’, with this attractive area offering all you could hope for from a traditional seaside village. During a holiday to Mumbles you’ll come across a fine range of restaurants and bars, where fresh local seafood is something of a delicacy. For lovers of retail therapy there are an eclectic collection of shops and independent boutiques to further add to the draw of this wonderful location.

Two of the most popular beaches in the region are located just minutes from Mumbles village and with The Gower Peninsula situated so close by, it’s easy to see why this pretty part of the South Wales Coast is such a tempting holiday destination. Limeslade Bay beach is located in a sheltered cove and is often described as rugged and rocky with the entire beach being entirely covered by the sea. At low tides a wide stretch of golden sand is revealed and is perfect for games on the beach. Just around the headland is Bracelet Bay which features plenty of rock pools that will keep children entertained for many an hour.

There are a number of fantastic days out available in and around The Mumbles. Why not take to the water for a surf lesson at one of the many surf schools that operate across the Gower, or if you prefer to keep your feet dry book onto a sightseeing tour where can get up close to the marine life that live in the waters surrounding the region. Mumbles Lifeboat Station has recently been refurbished and provides a fascinating insight into this vital part of the local community.

Oystermouth Castle has stood above the village since the 12th century and is open from April to September each year with plenty of hidden surprises across the grounds. From the grand banquet hall to the views from the top of turrets, there are a series of unique picture opportunities. For even more spectacular pictures take a walk up Mumbles Hill where you’ll be treated to sweeping views across Gower Bay and beyond.
