Aberdovey is a small peaceful village that is well known for its water sports, beautiful white beach and being a holiday haven. It has been growing as a popular tourist destination for many years. Traditionally a fishing village and port, it is now a centre for visitors looking for an energetic Welsh holiday. It has water activities in abundance including sailing, fishing, windsurfing, and summer boat races. Aberdovey also has an 18 hole championship golf course.

The village sits with the stunning Snowdonia National Park mountain range behind it and the beautifully blue Cardigan Bay in front of it. Many people return to Aberdovey year after year and it is easy to see why, the village is an ideal place to relax and do nothing, or use it as a base to do everything possible along the west coast of Wales.

The beach is the focal point of an Aberdovey holiday. Imagine all the iconic elements of a seaside holiday and they can be found here. The village centre stretches out all with the water’s edge in line with the beach, along the river and sea front, around the original harbour and past the jetty. Because of this the town and beach and seafront merge, with parking, shops, bistros, restaurants and ice cream stalls all available a stones throw away from the sand.

The Talyllyn Railway, which starts in Tywyn (a ten minute drive away), is an historically narrow carriage steam train that can take users to Snowdonia and back through the beautiful green scenery and along the sea’s edge.

There are numerous historical sites within close driving distances of Aberdovey in addition to spectacular valley ranges and small mountain peaks. This is an ideal area for walkers, climbers and wildlife watchers.

Aberdovey makes an ideal couples holiday. Days can be spent relaxing on the beach and strolling barefoot through the waves at the water’s edge. Lunch can be in a quiet café or a picnic in a secluded spot. Evenings can consist of cooking together in a self-catering cottage kitchen before snuggling up together on a sofa next to an open log fire that looks out to sea. Or maybe the ideal evening can be coming into a quaint bed and breakfast to instantly rest your head on a freshly made bed.

For a family holiday, a luxury hotel can provide comfort and relaxation, good food and homely rooms. But a holiday in Aberdovey is not about spending time in the hotel room so make the most of the beaches and spend time with the whole family learning how to waterkite or sail, or trekking together up to the nearest peak. Children can go on a pony trek whilst adults ride quad bikes.

However you and your loved ones plan to spend your holiday time, Aberdovey is a place that cannot be ignored.

Many people return to Aberdovey year after year and it’s easy to see why, it is an ideal place to relax and do nothing, or use it as a base to do everything possible along the west coast of wales.
