Property code: BN143

A tranquil and romantic retreat, situated on the ground floor of a converted barn, within the hamlet of Llandefaelog Fach, close to vibrant Brecon and the magical Brecon Beacons National Park.

Escape from it all with a stay at this appealing, holiday cottage for two. The one-bedroom property nestles on the ground floor of a carefully converted stone barn, on a smallholding, with another cottage on it too. A great romantic retreat, it also makes a base from which to explore the surrounding Welsh countryside. Visit Brecon, 4.5 miles away, with its shops, restaurants, cafes and galleries. Find fabulous walks beside the River Usk and along the canal from the town. Go hill walking, mountain biking, climbing and caving in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Wander down to the village pub, less than 0.5 miles away, or stop for a welcome drink after a long hike before returning home.

Up a few steps, enter into the apartment to find a homely touch and traditional decor, with features like flagstone floors. Settle down on the comfortable seating in your inviting lounge, where the wood burner can be fired up to cast a cosy glow whenever it is cold outside. Choose a book, play a board game or watch a DVD or the TV. Open the French doors on warm days so you can wander out into the sunshine on the patio to relax out there instead. The kitchen has an electric oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, and washer/dryer. As darkness falls, enjoy studying the night sky through the antique brass telescope before heading off to your Super-king-size bedroom (which can be converted into a twin if requested), where more French doors can be opened up if the weather permits. The adjoining bathroom comes with a large bath, hand-held shower, separate shower unit and WC.

Spend warm afternoons out in your private gravelled garden, down a step. Enjoy a cup of tea at the table or light the BBQ and take in the views while your supper sizzles. You’ll find plenty of parking at the property.

The cottage is very cosy and I had a great stay. Such a lovely location in the country but close enough to Brecon which is such a lovely town to wander round. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. My only problem is that the internet is extremely slow and sometimes non existent. This is likely not a problem for most that want Read moreto escape to the country but I had to work and I found the internet unreliable. I had to purchase an unlimited plan then hotspot off my phone. Location is superb 10 minute drive from Brecon, 7 minute walk to the pub. Quiet, private and super comfortable in every sense. The bed and linen was so comfortable. Well stocked kitchen, plenty of choice and was a pleasure to cook a full Xmas roast for 4! Hot water, spacious shower, lovely to have a bath on the colder days. Gorgeous little cottage in a great location. We needed somewhere accessible for my Mum, who has mobility problems, and this really ticked all the boxes. The hosts were lovely and welcoming and all in all we had a really relaxing, restful week away in Duck Cottage.

A well appointed cottage that is very comfortable and full of character. The rural surroundings are very relaxing and the farm cat, hens and guinea fowl add to the atmosphere on this picturesque farm complex. The host is most welcoming and helpful too.

Such a lovely cottage in the most beautiful relaxing setting, so lovely to see the animals roaming freely around the farm. We enjoyed visiting the town of Brecon with some lovely independent shops and walks along the canal. The cottage is in a great location for visiting the area of Brecon Beacons. We loved our stay.
