Property code: CHL09

This property enjoys a fantastic countryside location, just a five-minute walk from the banks of the River Wye which makes it a great choice for those who enjoy fishing or perhaps quiet country walks. The imposing ruins of Goodrich Castle overlook the property’s shared gardens and it is easy to walk up and spend a day exploring the castle and its surrounding grounds. A little further afield, there are plenty of places of interest in the area including Wilton Castle, the Forest of Dean, the ancient hillfort at Symonds Yat, the picturesque town of Ross-on Wye, and the cathedral cities of Gloucester and Hereford.

This charming two-storey property is a wonderful place to enjoy a romantic break. The property is laid out in an upside-down fashion, so the bedroom and bathroom can be found on the ground floor. The bedroom is an attractive double room with exposed brick and an ornate wooden bed, whilst the bathroom has a shower-over-bath and WC. Stairs lead to the first floor, where the main living area is located. The cosy lounge has been carefully updated to maintain the atmospheric feel of this historic building, with its vaulted ceiling, unusual shape, and exposed stone walls. A comfy sofa sits close to the window, allowing guests to relax and enjoy the warm glow of the wood burner, and perhaps a film on the TV and DVD. The kitchen/diner, which guests will find immediately at the top of the stairs, is equipped with a dining table, electric oven, hob, microwave, and fridge/freezer.

Outside, there are well-maintained gardens which are shared with the other properties, offering plenty of space to relax and enjoy the surroundings, perhaps enjoying a picnic on the tables, chairs, and benches scattered throughout.

The accommodation was brilliant, like staying in a castle. It was very warm, which surprised us. We loved it and would happily recommend it to anyone.

Lovely accommodation in beautiful countryside. Owners are on site if there's any issue to be dealt with which is nice. The log fire is amazing, it heats the whole place. Bed has a very hard mattress- this is personal choice as I prefer a soft mattress. The bath is great for a soak and fills very quickly with instant hot water. I would return here aRead moregain. Beautiful, characterful apartment in a scenic location. A comfortable place to stay which could be enhanced by a few simple additions eg more plates, glasses, coat hangers & a footstool. Amazing architecture and views. Comfy bed, good sized kitchen. Good pubs within walking or short drive distance away. Very quiet and tranquil. Bathroom could do with updating and sink was not working correctly when we stayed - hopeful that will be fixed for the next people staying.

Situated in a pretty Valley with pleasant gardens and a bit of a novelty to stay in an old priory, but bring everything you need with you! When we stayed we had problems with loose fitting taps, no non slip bath mat and only two mugs. Very basic, but pleasant.
