Traditional miner’s cottage offering an idyllic romantic retreat in the South Wales village of Bryncethin, situated between the cities of Swansea and Cardiff.

This property is situated in a village location just three miles from the town of Brigend in South Wales. There is plenty to see and do in the area, whatever visitors interests are. Those who enjoy scenic walks in beautiful landscapes, for example, may want to spend some time exploring the Merthyr Mawr Sand Dunes, or perhaps pay a visit to Bryngarw Country Park. Or maybe a trip to the seaside resort of Porthcawl is more your style, with its seven beaches, traditional seafront fun fair, and Grand Pavilion Theatre. Those who enjoy shopping, dining, and tasting some of the local culture, will love the fact that both Cardiff and Swansea are within easy reach of the property, with both of them being around twenty miles away. A gate from the pavement leads guests to the front door of this charming five-star cottage, bringing them directly to the welcoming lounge/diner which has been tastefully finished in an attractive shabby-chic style and offers comfortable seating, a TV with Netflix, and a window-side dining table. The kitchen has been finished in a complementary style to the main living area and offers an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, wine cooler, and washing machine. Stairs lead up to the restful, elegantly styled bedroom on the first floor, where a king-size bed sits under the exposed beams. The bathroom, on the ground floor, offers a shower-over-bath and WC.

A door from the kitchen leads out to enclosed garden to the rear of the property, which is mainly set to lawn and has a raised decked area with garden furniture in the centre. There is roadside parking available on the street in front of the cottage.

Very welcoming , cozy as it was very cold when we visited. Very dog friendly too. Decorated for Christmas which was very festive, and the welcome basket really helped to get us settled in.

A lovely cottage that you feel welcomed too as soon as you pull up. The bed was very comfortable and the seating just great for two. Kitchen well equipped. A good secure garden for our dog, and extensive common land just opposite for those doggy walks. Easy to find and a good location for our needs.

Seating arrangement in lounge could be better,settee under stairs was was a risk to banging head! and maybe consider a warning at top of stairs for low door and beams in bedroom entrance

I thought Rees cottage was immaculate, well presented, comfy, just perfect and the the best welcome pack I have ever seen, the garden is really safe for both larger and smaller dogs with the common land just accross the road for walking dogs, the 2 horses on were not a problem and there are serval diffent gates to the land, Amy's cafe further down Read morethe road has a good selection and great quality food. The local shop is a good size with everything you'd need amazing beaches are a short drive away Hide

Wonderful comfortable little cottage, a small field straight across from the front of the cottage perfect for early morning dog walk and a very large common over the road to the side, just watch out for the horses that are left to wander.

Had a fantastic time at the cottage. I enjoyed the horses and chickens over the fields. I loved the cockrel it was lovely to hear. I would recommend the cottage to friends and relatives. Thanks for making my holiday.

Really cosy and comfortable cottage with everything you need for a lovely break. Great if you want a base to have days out. Unfortunately cottage garden backs onto a very busy road so lots of noise from cars etc which made it difficult to enjoy the garden space.

A wonderful clean and lovely decorated cottage. I was visiting family so know the area very well. It is perfect for visiting Porthcawl for the beach, close to Cardiff and Swansea for city visits. Lovely, quaint and cosy cottage, has everything needed and not far from lovely places (by foot and car) to explore with the dogs. There wasnt anything we missed with regards to equipment or essentials during the stay as everything was there. The welcome basket was a lovely touch and very much appreciated. We found the cottage very comfortable and we needed for nothing. The location was perfect for exploring the area. The area itself had loads to do. We have a dog and there were great places to take the dog for walks. We would fome again!

We had a lovely week in Rees Cottage. Ideal location for lots of dog walking, close to Bryngarw Country Park, Margam Country Park and very dog-friendly Ogmore Beach. we got everything out of the weekend and more than we expected , lovely little cottage and although we only live 40 mins down the road it felt like we were in a different world with the beaches and the walks all within a 20 min drive.
