With footpaths leading up the surrounding hills, this delightful cottage for four is ideal for walkers and nature enthusiasts, with the farm a haven for birds and wildlife.

With walking and cycling for all levels of fitness from the door to gentle browsing in Hay-on-Wye, there is something here for everyone. Brecon lies in one direction and both Crickhowell and Abergavenny lie in the other, with a range of independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. The Rivers Usk & Wye are both nearby for fishing, day permits for the River Usk are available in Crickhowell and canoes for the River Wye can be rented in Glasbury. Try sailing, paddle boarding and kayaking at Llangorse Lake. Train enthusiasts will love the Brecon Beacons Mountain Railway whilst avid historians should visit the Big Pit Mining Museum. Tackle Pen Y Fan, the largest peak in South Wales, or simply head to the beer garden beside the Brecon and Monmouth Canal where it passes through Pencelli.

 

Beautifully renovated, this traditional stone cottage retains its original features whilst accommodating modern comforts to create a characterful and cosy holiday home. The living room has two sofas and an armchair, ideal for relaxing in front of a film or reading a book as the coal-effect gas fire flickers in the fireplace. The fitted oak kitchen has an electric cooker, gas hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and washing machine. The antique farmhouse dining table is perfect for sociable mealtimes, seating six with ease, and with a view over the adjacent paddock, you can spend time looking out for red kites and buzzards from the window. There is also a downstairs WC. Upstairs, the pretty master bedroom has an antique brass double bed, whilst the second bedroom is a twin. The family bathroom has a shower over the bath, hand basin and WC.

 

Outside, the garden enjoys spectacular views across the Usk Valley and Brecon Beacons. Not completely enclosed, the children's swing sits on the lawn with ample space to run around. Dine alfresco at the wooden table and benches morning, noon and night, even if it is raining, under the shelter of the oak framed canopy awning. There is ample off-road parking and a pub within walking distance, a restaurant 2.5 miles away and a shop 3 miles away.

Located in an excellent position between Brecon and Abergavenny. 30 mins from the mountain walks and four waterfalls. Great pub 5 mins away, walking distance (dog friendly). Canal walk on your doorstep. A cosy cottage.

Excellent, comfortable cottage with lovely views and an equally excellent pub just a five minute walk away. Lots of walks around and being on a canal some of them are very flat.

Really lovely cottage, good location for exploring the Brecon Beacons and south Wales. Or you can sit on the veranda with a book and let the world pass you by.

This cottage is in a lovely location with great access to lots walking trails, including mountain walks, waterfall walks and a walk along the canal. The owners were lovely and courteous when we saw them, but they also respected our privacy were keen not to interfere with our stay.
