Sleeping twelve guests, this converted corn mill that’s steeped in local history dating back to 1795 is simply perfect for those wanting to explore the Herefordshire countryside and the Wye Valley. Set deep in the Herefordshire countryside, the rural hamlet of Rudhall is an ideal base to explore the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean. It’s a haven for walkers and cyclists where you can enjoy riverside walks along the Wye or climb the trail to Symonds Yat Rock where you can admire the valley view. The Forest of Dean is steeped in history with ancient oak woodlands, pine forests, and wildlife, and caters well to outdoor adventures. You are also spoilt for choice with market towns to explore, as both Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye are within easy reach. Ross-on-Wye (2 miles) is hailed as the cradle of modern tourism with its 17th-century market house, and Monmouth (10.5 miles) is the birthplace of Henry V.

The mill stands proudly within the grounds, access is via the front steps into the porch which is a great place for coats and boots. Step into the hallway, the accommodation is spread across three upper floors, along with a basement area. The ground floor hosts a welcoming kitchen breakfast room which is perfect for the chef amongst you, offering everything you may need during your stay, and a circular table and chairs where you can enjoy a morning coffee whilst planning your day. For more formal dining, across the hallway a large dining room with table and chairs can accommodate ten guests, perfect for a celebration supper. From here, double glass doors open into the main lounge area where you can relax with friends, with plenty of comfortable seating and a TV. There are double doors that lead onto a garden terrace, which is a great space for the evening sun or a lazy afternoon with a good book. There is also a cloakroom with WC on this floor. The basement area offers a small utility area that is great for food preparation, if you are entertaining in the grounds. The games room offers a large corner sofa and wood burning stove, a great place for the teenagers to get away. There is also an area with a bunk bed suitable for children up to 16 years of age with a shower room with shower and WC on this floor. The upper two floors are accessed off the main hallway. The first floor offers guests the choice of three generously sized bedrooms, one king-size with en-suite bathroom with shower over the bath and WC, 1 double with rear aspect and a double with front aspect room. There is a shower room and WC on this floor. The second floor offers guests the choice of two bedrooms, one double with lake views and one double. There is a bathroom with shower over the bath and WC on this floor.

Outside, guests are free to explore the extensive gardens which include a large wildlife lake with island, arboretum and park walk. Immediately outside the mill, there is a patio area with table and chairs and BBQ. Sorry no dogs allowed at this property due to local wildlife and farm animals.

A lovely, well equipped house perfect for a big family reunion. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas which was much appreciated. Ian was very helpful and was at the end of the phone to sort out any problems we encountered.
