Romantic hideaway in the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park. One of three properties located on a working farm with livestock roaming the estate and fishing available in the River Crai on-site.

Discover the Brecon Beacons far and wide, staying in this peaceful and remote location close to the village of Sennybridge (3 miles) which has welcoming country pubs. Those looking to spend some quality time together can embark on romantic walks around the wonderful Welsh countryside, exploring the beautiful green valleys or summiting the national park’s highest mountain, Pen y Fan (14 miles). Keen fishermen will no doubt jump at the opportunity to procure a catch of the day, with the River Crai running right through the farmland for brown trout, and the nearby Usk Reservoir (5.5 miles) a popular spot for fly fishing. Travel to the nearby town of Brecon (11.5 miles) for restaurants, shops and cafes.

This lovingly converted cottage has been developed from a 200-year-old barn and makes up part of a complex of properties on this popular sheep farm. On arrival, head down a step and into the open-plan living area where the kitchen, lounge and dining room can be found .The kitchen is petite but fully functional, with induction hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge and washing machine. A small freezer can be found in the outhouse, where a boiler offers a warm spot for storing outerwear and secure storage for bikes. Head back inside and settle into the lounge, selecting a book to flick through or simply sit down and enjoy a DVD. On the first floor, a spacious double bedroom with sloping ceilings offers an inviting space to rest your head each night, with an en-suite waterfall shower, heated towel rail and WC.

There’s a small but functional patio space to the front of the property, with outdoor furniture and a BBQ for al fresco dining. The property is located on a 220-acre sheep farm and the resident owners invite you to take a stroll through the farm, a particularly nice pastime during lambing season.

We had a lovely stay in this cozy little cottage. Very compact, but well equipped and ideal for a short break for a couple. Nice and warm to come back to after a day's hiking and good drying and storage area for wet and muddy clothes. Excellent base for walks in mid/western Beacons. A lovely few days stay in a quiet location. The Barley Store is clean and comfortable, and has everything you could need. Good parking. The views are amazing! Be aware that there are narrow winding roads leading to the property, but these aren't busy and we only encountered 2 vehicles in 4 days. Beautiful location and beautiful accommodation. If you want peace and quiet this is where to find it. You can hear the sheep sometimes as it is a working farm but we found that quite lovely. Stargazing is a must and the owners provided a large map of the Brecon Beacons which made it easy for us to plan where to go. The cottage itself is beautiful.
